By of the Journal Sentinel The Milwaukee County Board on Thursday County Executive Chris Abele over a disagreement on whether supervisors or the executive have the authority to set pay for department heads and other employees not covered by civil service rules. On a 14-1 vote, the board adopted a resolution prohibiting the executive from establishing salaries for appointees and about 300 other unclassified county workers unless authorized by the board. Supervisor Deanna Alexander was the lone vote against the measure.
